In an effort to create awareness on issues related to the environment and society, Youth ExNoRa International has joined hands with students of Anna University to create a 300-page website.
The project, titled ‘Web Seva,’ was inaugurated at the varsity premises on Tuesday by Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker D. Jayakumar.
“Around 80 web pages were created by the students of Department of Computer Science, Anna University,” said Nirmal Chander, Vice-President, Youth ExNoRa International.
We want to motivate the youth to combat challenges like global warming and other environment-related problems.
The web pages focus on preserving nature and preventing environmental de-gradation and inculcating in youth a spirit of social service and patriotism, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jayakumar stressed on the importance of trees.
“Every human being should take good care of the nature. Around 7,000 saplings had been planted in Royapuram in association with the industries in the area over the past few years. Given the rise in pollution levels, it is the duty of each person to plant a tree. Students must also come forward and spread awareness about conserving the nature.”
State Minister for Environment, B. V. Ramana, who inaugurated a workshop for the students, said the scheme to plant 64 lakh saplings to mark the birthday of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa showcased the efforts taken by the government to protect the environment.
Students should take up leadership roles and come up with innovative concepts to solve environment-related issues, he added.
