The Madras High Court on Friday directed the authorities to consider within two months a representation requesting installation of CCTV cameras in classrooms and on the campus of government and private schools in the State.
The First Bench consisting of the Chief Justice, S.K.Kaul, and Justice M.M.Sundresh, was disposing of a writ petition by one K.K.Ramesh, managing trustee of the Tamil Nadu Centre for Public Interest Litigation, Madurai.
The petitioner submitted that newspapers and television channels carried reports of sexual abuse and harassment of girl students and women teachers in schools in Tamil Nadu.
