It would be very beneficial if institutions of national importance opened up and interrelated with other institutions of higher education for the benefit of future generations of Indian scientists and researchers, said J.A.K. Tareen, vice-chancellor, B.S. Abdul Rahman University.
Speaking at the inauguration of a three-day conference on ‘Nanomaterials – Science, Technology and Applications’, held at BSAR University on Thursday, the vice-chancellor said the tradition of barricades and complexes should be dispensed with.
These institutions should come forward to interact, exchange and share their expertise with other institutions so that the imaginary wall between institutions of higher education can be razed down for a brighter future.
Inaugurating the conference, trade commissioner and consul commercial, Australian Consulate General, Chennai, Michael Carter said that of late there had been more linkages between Australia and India in the education sector than in trade and commerce. Representatives of co-organising institutions — Abdul Hadi of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia and Jagat R. Kanwar of Deakin University, Australia — presented a brief note about their institutions.
