Upcoming music director Anirudh Ravichander was named in a complaint filed by a city-based lawyer to the Police Commissioner on Monday, for having posted a music single on popular video-sharing site YouTube with derogatory lyrics and propagating it via his social networks.
The lawyer has demanded that police charge the music director for posting material that was not cleared by the Censor Board.
A check of the music director’s Twitter timeline and YouTube channel on Monday night showed that the music video mentioned by the complainant was absent, though quite a few users on Twitter had referred to the video — mentioned as featuring his first independent single — as being disappointing. The music director’s Facebook page too had a mention of the teaser to the video to be released on January 16 but the links to the video was not available. The director could not be reached for comments.
The complainant S. Jebadas Pandian said the song which, was posted last week, has insulted women and affected religious sentiments. He demanded the video be removed and urged action against the 23-year-old.
