Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa met actor, senior journalist and political commentator ‘Cho’ Ramaswamy, who is being treated for respiratory illness at Apollo Hospital on Greams Road.

Sources said Ms. Jayalalithaa spent nearly half an hour sitting with Mr. Ramaswamy in his room, and the visit seemed to perk up the latter. Mr. Ramaswamy’s wife Soundara Ramaswamy was also present.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Chennai on August 7, he called on Mr. Ramaswamy at his home to enquire about his health.

A former member of Rajya Sabha, Mr. Ramaswamy is known for his acerbic criticism of politicians in his Tamil magazine Thuglak
