CM announces solatium for kin of accident victims

A day after nine labourers from Vellore district died in a road accident in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Sunday announced solatium to the affected families and instructed senior authorities to implement the relief measures.

The bodies of the victims were sent to their native places from the accident site. Ministers K.C. Veeramani and Nilofer Kafeel are overseeing treatment being given to the injured.

Mr. Palaniswami announced a solatium of ₹1 lakh to each of the families of those who died in the accident, ₹50,000 to those who suffered serious injuries and ₹25,000 to those with minor injuries.

Thirty one workers from Natrampalli in Vellore district, who went to Kuppam in Chittoor district, were returning on a lorry on June 16, when the vehicle capsized near Perumpallam in the same district. While six persons died on the spot, three more died later.
