The wait for over 10 lakh students from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, including over 59,000 from the city, who wrote the class X SSLC examinations in March-April 2013 will end on Friday.
The results are expected to be announced at 9.15 a.m.

This is the second year that students have written the examination under the Samacheer Kalvi syllabus. Expectations are high as this year was not marred by previous years’ confusion over the new syllabus.
Last year, the State recorded a pass percentage of 86.2 under the uniform syllabus.
S. Marylatha, a special teacher, said on Thursday her students, anxious about the results, had been calling her all day.
“Some of the students with hearing-impairment said that they found the language papers tough, but are optimistic. I have taken down all their registration numbers and dates of birth,” she said.
For the head mistress of a Chennai High School, which sent its first batch of students for the class X Board exams, the excitement and anxiety is hard to hide. “Not just the students, but the teachers too were preparing a class for the Board exam for the first time. It has been a challenging year for us, as this is our first time too. But, we are expecting great results,” she said.
Andrea Rebeiro, who is planning to take group I (physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology) in class XI, says her school and teachers had asked her to treat the Board examination just like just any another, except that the papers would not be corrected by her teachers. “My parents have been very supportive. I am confident about all the papers,” she said, adding that she was planning to check the results online.
Shankar Narayanan, volunteer, Sneha, an NGO that works towards prevention of suicides, suggested that students not compare their results with their peers. “The habit of asking the student for his/her marks only adds to the anxiety and must be avoided,” he said, adding that students and parents must speak to someone if they are stressed out.
Applications for retotalling
A press release from the directorate of government examinations said students can apply for retotalling online between June 7 and June 10. Students must apply separately for each subject and the fee for retotalling will be Rs. 305 per subject for languages and English and Rs. 205 per subject for mathematics, science and social science.
Students have been asked to take printouts of the acknowledgement form along with the application number for further reference.
Marksheets will be sent through schools by June 20 for those who wrote the exam through the schools, and private candidates have to approach their examination centre. Students can apply online for the special supplementary examination between June 3 and 12 p.m. on June 5.
