An outlet of Chintamani Cooperative Stores, Anna Nagar East, of Park Town Co-operative Wholesale Stores Limited, was inaugurated by Cooperation Minister Sellur K. Raju, in the presence of the Tourism Minister S. Gokula Indira, and officials from Co-operation, Food and Consumer Protection Department recently. The unit offers stationery products at 10 per cent discount and household plastic goods at 20 to 25 per cent discount.

To tackle the price rise and ensure fair distribution of essential commodities to people, these cooperative stores were started and have been functioning well, the Minister said. Apart from provisions, a separate enclosure has been allotted for vegetables here.

Officials in their address said that people should support such fair price shops.

The Chintamani Cooperative Supermarket here sports a new look, thanks to a facelift given to it by the authorities on a par with swanky departmental stores.

Self-service section

The environment at the self-service section has been made friendly to the customers. Neatly arranged provisions, with multiple brands in each commodity, is another attraction for the customers.

Obviously, the number of commodities for sale has been increased catering to the needs of a larger section of people of different income-groups.

The new space has enabled the authorities to stock adequate quantity of various commodities and cosmetics for the convenience of the customers.

With the price rise on the stakes, more and more people are expected to make their entries at the Chintamani Cooperative Stores, said one of the officials at the function.
