Suicides send shockwaves

A 49-year-old woman fell to her death from the terrace of her apartment in Koyambedu on Thursday morning. The police suspect it to be a case of suicide as she was reportedly suffering from mental illness.

The CMBT police identified the woman as Parvathi Bhatt. She lived in the flat on the fourth floor of SAF Games Village complex.

On Thursday, the incident took place around 5.30 a.m., after Parvathi left the house to go to the terrace right above her flat for a walk. Minutes later, she jumped off the terrace.

Actor kills self

A 54-year-old Tamil actor, Murali Mohan, who featured in a few films, television soaps and television commercials, was found hanging at his house in Purusawalkam. The police suspect he committed suicide because of dearth of work. According to the Vepery police, the actor, well known as ‘Horlicks mama’, lived on Lanterns Road with his wife. The couple’s son resides in the U.S.

On Wednesday night, the actor was alone at home after his wife went to Tambaram to attend a wedding. She returned around 8 a.m. on Thursday to find her husband hanging from the ceiling. Murali Mohan had acted in the films, ‘Boys’ and ‘Allithanta Vanam’, some vernacular soaps and television commercials.
