In a nod to the increasing influence of social media on a film’s publicity, actor Suriya on Tuesday thanked his online fans for ensuring that the 70-second teaser of his venture with N. Lingusamy, ‘Anjaan’, garnered around 1.2 million hits in just two days. He has also promised to get on social networks soon.

Speaking to his fans in a packed hall at a star hotel here, Suriya said that he is slowly getting to understand the world of social media. “The reviews that people share on Facebook and Twitter have become very important. I will soon be on Twitter and Facebook myself,” the actor said.

‘Anjaan’, which is set in Mumbai, is said to be about the infamous underworld of Mumbai. Talking about how he prepared for the role, he said, “My character’s name is Raju Bhai. I read books such as ‘Dongri to Dubai’ (by S. Hussain Zaidi) to understand the milieu. I have never done a character such as this or sported this sort of a look. This will be a film that people will remember,” he said.

The actor interacted with the fans, who were also invited through social media. The film, which also stars Samantha, Vidyut Jamwal and Suri, is likely to release in the month of August.
