Organs of 23-year-old donated

The family of a 23-year-old man who was declared brain dead on Saturday morning consented to the donation of his organs.

The man had been living with his uncle in Chennai and worked at a private firm, while his parents lived near Tuticorin.

According to officials of Apollo Hospital, the man fell down at his home on Thursday.

His family, who had gone out at that time, found him injured when they came back and rushed him to a hospital. However, doctors declared him brain dead at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday.

With his family consenting to organ donation, the young man’s heart, liver, both kidneys and both eyes were harvested on Saturday evening, hospital officials said.
