September 17, 2014 11:56 am | Updated 11:56 am IST - CHENNAI:

Students of Vidya Sagar, an NGO at Kotturpuram that works with children and adults with neurological disorders, created awareness on the importance of following traffic rules on Monday.

With permission from the traffic police, the awareness programme was held between 10 a.m. and 12 noon.

Working in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Dr. MGR Janaki College, the students used stickers, displaying messages on awareness, to engage with vehicles at the signal on Ranjith Road, near their school.

According to principal Kalpana Rao, 30 students between the ages of 12 and 16, with the help of teachers and 14 volunteers from MGR Janaki College, were able to distribute all the 300 stickers they had prepared. “The students also engaged with the motorists for a signature campaign, with a pledge to follow traffic rules,” she said. More than 200 motorists signed the campaign.
