An awards function at a car showroom may sound unorthodox, but winners and the guests for the evening weren’t complaining as the backdrop for the ceremony comprised majestic models of the Jaguar XK and Range Rover Sport.
Women Achievers Award for 2014, hosted by Jaguar Land Rover in association with Ritz magazine at VST Grandeur on Friday, saw prominent women in a variety of fields being honoured.
Vijailakshmi Acharya was the first to be feted for her work in the field dentistry. Regeena. L. Murali, director of Jeppiaar Engineering College and C. Premakumari, correspondent of Lady Andal School, received honours for their services to the field of education.
Actors Hansika Motwani, Radhikaa Sarathkumar and Suhasini Maniratnam were awarded for their achievements in Tamil cinema. Trustee of Sruti Magazine Sukanya Shankar, wellness expert Renuka David, designer Sarah Vetteth and entrepreneur Kiran Rao also received honours.
Chennai’s own squash champion Dipika Pallikal was also honoured.
