The Victory War Memorial, found south of Fort. St. George, is getting spruced up ahead of the 66th Independence Day.

The beautification work on the monument, which draws attention to the world wars, the 1948 Kashmir Aggression, 1966 war with China and also the Indo-Pak war, is being carried out round the clock.

According to defence sources, the monument, among other things, will get better illumination and the area around it will receive a ‘harmonic grassy look’. Sufficient funds have been allocated for the work.

The structure will also have a fountain.
