It was a visual treat for the Sohar residents who attended a fabulous folk cultural show that was jointly organised by the Tamil Nadu Eyal Isai Nataka Manram, Chennai, in association with Indian Cultural Society, Oman, and Tamil Sangams of Muscat and Sohar on December 26 and 27. A similar show was conducted at Muscat on December 29. The show comprised reverberating talents of more than 20 professional folk artists of Tamil Nadu.
The highlight was folk flavours _ Karagattam, Kavadiyattam, Mayilattam, Kalaiyattam, Poikalkudirai, Oyilattam, Pinnal Kolattam, Kaaliyattam and Nayandiyattam.
Deva, music director, who is also the Chairman of the Manram and veteran actress P.S. Sachu, member-secretary of the Manram, accompanied the troupe. The chief guest for the event was Saleh Al Hadabi, Director-General, Sohar Municipality, and J.S. Mukul, Indian Ambassador of Oman. Kalaimamani Somasundaram was the coordinator of the show.
