Deceased’s wife files complaint against hospital

July 13, 2014 08:10 am | Updated 08:10 am IST - CHENNAI:

Following the death of an IT professional, his wife has lodged a complaint against a private hospital, alleging that they did not provide an ambulance and that this led to his death. According to the Vadapalani police, Hemanth Kumar (37) , a resident of West Mambalam, was taken to a private hospital in the locality after he complained of acidity. He was treated but, while returning home, fell unconscious. His wife rushed him back to the hospital, where she was asked to shift him to another hospital. When she asked for an ambulance, the hospital said they did not have one. She was forced to take him to another private hospital in an autorickshaw, where he was declared ‘brought dead’. “We have registered a case of unnatural death and his body has been sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for a post-mortem,” a police officer said.
