B.E. graduate held for burglary in Chennai

July 16, 2014 11:20 am | Updated 11:20 am IST - CHENNAI:

An engineering graduate, who posed as a laptop reseller and burgled houses in the city for easy money, was nabbed on Monday.

One kg of gold jewellery, nearly two kg of silver items, 21 laptops and Rs. 50,000 were found in his possession.

According to the Royala Nagar police, Pratesh Bhuvan (28), a resident of TVS Nagar 4 Street in Padi, gave his family the impression he was a second-hand laptop importer and re-seller, while operating as a burglar.

Bhuvan had completed B.E. in mechanical engineering in 2008 and joined an automotive firm in Ambattur. Unhappy with the pay, he quit in 2011, and began stealing his friends’ laptops and reselling them, to make ends meet.

“As easy money started to pour in, he began to target hostels. He gradually moved on to stealing jewellery and money from locked houses,” said the police.
