AAP cadre protest outside minister’s house

September 01, 2014 07:42 am | Updated 07:42 am IST - CHENNAI:

A group of 28 cadre of the Aam Admi Party were arrested on Sunday for protesting outside the house of health and family welfare minister C. Vijayabaskar, demanding that patient care at Government Stanley Medical College be improved.

One of the main demands was that the minister ensure that all patients who had undergone dialysis in the month of May at the hospital be called back and tested for hepatitis C virus.

They also demanded the toilets in all government hospitals be maintained well and the testing apparatus sanitised properly to ensure that diseases like hepatitis C did not spread through the hospitals.

Police said the group demanded to meet the minister and attempted to picket his house when they were held.
