Aadhibhagavan
What it is about…
Anbu Pictures’ Aadhibhagavan is produced by J. Anbazhagan and directed by Ameer who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogue. Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music, Devaraj has handled the camera, and S.P. Ahamed has edited the film. ‘Jeyam’ Ravi and Neetu Chandra play the lead, while Babu Antony, Mohan Raj, Sudha Chandran, Sakshi Shivanand, Karuna, Bala Singh and Anirudh comprise the supporting cast. More than a dozen foreign artistes have worked in the film. The audio CD of Aadhibhagavan was released at a function in Toronto, Canada, by producer J. Anbazhagan and received by director S.P. Jananathan in the presence of directors Karu Pazhaniappan, Seeman and members of the film unit.
Music highlights
The album consists of six songs, including one in Hindi. ‘Agadam Pagadam’ in Hindi has been written by Manoj and sung by Mohit Chauhan. ‘Bhagavan Rap’ is an interesting rap number by Sathyan. ‘Kattriley Nadanthene’ has some of the best lines by Arivumathi. Though the cover does not mention lyricist Snehan, we learn that he has written three songs for the film — ‘Aeisalaamey Eisalam’ sung by Manasi Scott and Rahul Nambiar, ‘Yaavum Poithanaa’ sung by Madhushree, and ‘Oru Thuli’ by Sharib and Shreya Ghoshal. The last mentioned number sounds great.
What they say…
Producer J. Anbazhagan: I have over 38 years of experience as a politician. I served as a member of the Legislative Assembly from 2001-2006 and am also serving now. With an interest in films, I took up distribution of movies, such as Endhiran, a couple of years ago. With that experience, I have produced Aadhibhagavan , my first film. When director Ameer and I decided to do a film together I wanted him to make a commercial film that will click at the box office. And he has done a good job.
Director Ameer: After finishing Yogi, I was in the process of doing Kannabiran . But Anbazhagan wanted me to make a commercial film with beautiful songs, thrilling fight sequences and family sentiment, something like an MGR flick. Wanting to do something different, I instantly agreed to it. ‘Jeyam’ Ravi, the hero, has worked very hard in the film. I am glad the producer is happy with the output.
Hero ‘Jeyam’ Ravi: I was delighted to work under Ameer’s direction. I feel Aadhibhagavan will make me a commercial hero and prove that I can do any type of movie. It will showcase director Ameer in a new light.
Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja: This is the fifth film I’ve done with director Ameer. It is also the first we’ve done in the 7.1 digital audio format. There is a Hindi song and a rap number in the album, and composing them was a different experience for me. I have used more of Hindustani and ghazal tunes and gone in for live instruments. The songs have come out beautifully.
