Mother’s Day celebration may be unheard of in villages, especially by women who spend long hours working in brick kilns or farmlands as daily wage earners. However, 300 women were brought together by Sevalaya in an event organised to celebrate motherhood at Kasuva Village near Tiruninravur on Saturday. The women assembled in the school run by the voluntary organisation, where their children are studying. The event, sponsored by Scope International, saw employees from the firm dividing themselves into groups and taking part in events. The top teams were given awards.
Teams prepared models, created rangolis and took part in group song and dance competitions.
