September 15, 2013 09:35 am | Updated November 17, 2021 01:51 am IST - CHENNAI:

In the fourth such incident, some false ceiling panels fell at Chennai airport on Saturday.

Airport sources said around 9 a.m., panels covering a distance of around 3 feet caved in between gate 8 and 9 in the old domestic terminal of the airport.

No one was injured in the incident.

In the first incident, several panels collapsed in the new domestic terminal due to heavy winds. Again on August 11, 23 panels in the new domestic terminal caved in behind the check-in counters due to heavy condensation, officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI) had said. On August 19, a few panels in the old international terminal fell.

Work to replace the false ceiling in the new terminals started a while ago and is progressing.
