Putting an end to uncertainty over dates of Class XII results, the CBSE announced May 27 as D-day.
On Friday, the CBSE said on its website that class XII results for all regions were ‘likely to be announced’ at 10 a.m. on May 27.
The CBSE is the only Board which is yet to declare its Class XII results in Tamil Nadu. The State board results were out as early as May 9 followed by the ISC results on May 17.
The delay in announcement of results had added to students’ anxiety as several colleges in the State began issuing application forms and started admission procedures earlier this month.
“Now the tension over the results date is settled. I wish to pursue a B.A. in English Literature and hope I will score well enough to get a seat in the college of my choice. The places I want to apply to have not begun the admission process yet,” said Shivapriya Soorianarayanan, a class XII student.
However, for others like R. Krithika (name changed), who is applying for a B.Com seat, the delay is unnerving. She said that in the colleges she wished to apply to, State-board students had finished admission procedures, including interviews.
“One college has asked me to submit a soft copy within 24 hours of the results. I hope I don’t lose out on a seat because of the delay,” she said.
Over 7,000 candidates in Chennai and 9,000 students in Tamil Nadu registered for the CBSE class XII examination which was conducted in March. A CBSE official said the results would not be delayed any further.
