The Hindu Business Line on Monday launched its campus edition with the idea of “illuminating students’ minds” and empowering them.

Lakshmi Narayanan, vice- chairman, Cognizant, handed over the first copy to Arvind Swami, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Talent Maximus. The function was held at MOP Vaishnav College for Women.

Mr. Lakshmi Narayanan said entrepreneurship was about inspiring people and innovative minds. “Entrepreneurship is a wonderful thing. Nearly 60 per cent of successful ventures are based on ideas conceived in colleges. Facebook and Twitter were conceived by students. It is not too late or early to start a venture,” he said.

D. Sampath Kumar, Editor, The Hindu Business Line said, when the paper was launched in 1993, it was aimed at “illuminating minds”. With the launch of special campus edition, it would illuminate students’ minds too. Arun Anant, Chief Executive Officer, Kasturi and Sons, said the campus edition would carry abridged stores. The idea was to not overburden students, he added,

Mr. Swami said he had often found it difficult to understand many of the terms used in the coverage of business. But, now students could seek explanation on various subjects from different sources.

The campus edition, launched in seven cities, will focus on major developments in the world of economy and business as well as on the information needs of students .
