Burglary at Indian Overseas Bank's Virugambakkam branch in Chennai

In a burglary in the Indian Overseas Bank's Virugambakkam branch in Chennai, two lockers have been found broken, police said.

The staff of the bank on Monday morning noticed that the CCTV wire had been cut and informed the police, who reached the spot and are conducting an investigation.

Commissioner of Police A.K.Viswanathan and Additional Commissioner of Police M.C. Sarangan also inspected the premises.

Preliminary enquiries revealed that things were intact in one locker while the other one was disturbed. The value of the property lost was yet to be assessed, police said.

Bank manager Saroja said the branch customers need not panic as cash and valuables were safe.
