A masked man struck at seven shipping agencies housed in a six-storey-complex in North Beach early on Tuesday.

CCTV footage showed the man, suspected to be in his 30s, breaking open the locks of the offices. The police suspect the man might have gained entry before the building was closed for the day and escaped when it was opened on Tuesday morning.

“The incident might have happened between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Tuesday. We are questioning the agencies’ employees, as this could have been done with their connivance,” said a police officer. The man stole a total amount of Rs. 25,125 from the offices that deal with booking of parcels.

The police are also questioning the two security guards who were posted at the entrance of the building at the time of the incident. Based on a complaint by the owner of the complex, Jain Mullahuddin, a case under section 457 and 310 of IPC has been registered by the North Beach police.
