The north Chennai district secretary of Bahujan Samajwadi Party, A. Thennarasu (43), was murdered and his wife injured in an attack at Thamaraipakkam in Tiruvallur district on Thursday morning.
Thennarasu was about to enter his car, parked near a marriage hall at Thamaraipakkam junction, with his wife Maithili and mother Shanthi, when four men armed with knives pounced and attacked them.
Thennarasu and Maithili were rushed to a private hospital, where Thennarasu was pronounced dead on arrival. Maithili is undergoing treatment.
