British Council launches global English test

September 19, 2012 01:31 pm | Updated September 20, 2012 08:14 am IST - CHENNAI:

The British Council launched a global English assessment tool for organisations and institutions from across the world in the city on Tuesday. Aptis, a business-to-business English assessment service available to organisations and large learning institutions, has been built on an interactive platform.

Speaking about the need for such a test, Sarah Deverall, the director of exams and customer services (south Asia) said, “Grade 12 marks may not necessarily be an indicator of how much English an employee knows. There is a need to look more seriously into this since English is important for careers.”

Organisations can also purchase the test in bulk orders either for existing employees or for those in the recruitment stage. The flexible and adaptable English test can be used to assess ability in all four English skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) and can also be customised to test one or more specific skills, allowing organisations to test the skills relevant to their needs.

The fully integrated exam has 15 available packages which are designed to test development, management, delivery, monitoring and reporting systems, offering the results in less than 24 hours.
