The Hindu Friday Review November Fest has “carved a niche for itself and is eagerly awaited by music lovers,” said G. Satish Kumar, The Hindu 's Associate Vice President Advertising – South.
This year's festival, the sixth edition, has a unique character, drawing musicians from five countries, including Pakistan and Israel, he added.
Young artists
Speaking at a press conference at Vivanta by Taj, Connemara on Friday to announce the festival, which will run over seven days, between November 15 and 21, Mr. Kumar said this year's fest will also encourage young artists.
There will be a 45-minute open air under-the-shamiana recitals held just before the main concert of each evening at the venue, Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall on Harrington Road.
C. Venugopal, Marketing Director, Nippon Paint (India) Ltd. said he has watched the festival grow from strength to strength over the years.
He added with a laugh: “Every year the number of calls we get asking for passes go up!”
Adding that “music brings people together” he said the festival has proved to be an effective platform for his company to reach out to the public.
K. Aathisakthi, Assistant Manager Sales and Marketing of Unitech Ltd, which has come on board as an associate sponsor this year, said they would like to carry on their association. A. Shakti Vellu, Branch Marketing manager, LG Electronics, called the festival an “opportunity to listen to great music.”
In a message, Ratish Pandey, Country Manager, Bose Corporation India Private Ltd, the presenting sponsor of the festival said his company has been associated with the event since its inception. Bose sees the Fest as a natural extension of the brand, he added.
The festival features ghazals by Tina Sani, fusion by Shasank and the Manganiyars, Korean contemporary music by wHOOL, chamber music by Trio Image, Indian contemporary music by Colonial Cousins, world music by EarthSync and Hindi retro film music by Pancham.
The presenting sponsor is Bose Corporation India Pvt Ltd and the associate sponsors are Unitech, LG Electronics, Nippon Paint, Casio, GRT Jewellers, RMKV and Indica Vista.
The channel partner is NDTV Hindu, the radio partner is Radio One 94.3 FM, and Vivanta by Taj, Connemara is the hospitality sponsor. The event is managed by Showspace.
