The Battle of the Buffet, a two-day event ushering in Daan Utsav, will see the participation of several restaurants in the city.

According to a press release, the Battle of the Buffet will take place on October 1 and 2 in the evening and bring together food and music in a zero-cost fund raising opportunity for NGOs in the city.

Donors will get an opportunity to participate in the event, in which playback singer Hariharan is scheduled to perform and restaurants from the city will have food stalls participating.

The event is being organised by the Chennai Mission Trust and CIOSA. The Daan Utsav or the ‘Joy of Giving week’ will take place from October 2 to 8, where institutions across the board and individuals from all walks of life are encouraged to do an act of kindness towards someone less privileged. For the general public, a ‘Seva Mela’ will be held on the Lady Andal Venkatasubba Rao Matriculation School campus on October 1 and 2, which will see more than 75 NGOs showcasing their work.

As a part of the mela, the city will also see a massive hundiyal installed at the venue, where even a child who has a rupee to contribute can help the various organisations working in the city for noble causes.
