The poll authorities have begun the base work for the preparation of lists of ASDD (absentee, shifted, duplicate and the dead) electors booth-wise for the Srirangam by-election.
Sandeep Saxena, Chief Electoral Officer, said the lists would be ready a few days before the date of polling — February 13.
When asked whether the move of the authorities is in response to the petitions of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Dr. Saxena said there is nothing new about the preparation of such lists and this is done for any election.
A delegation of DMK functionaries, including R.S. Bharathi, organising secretary of the party, met the CEO on Tuesday.
