Law firm M/s. Subbaraya Aiyar Padmanabhan and Ramamani Advocates on Sunday launched mobile applications for the RTI Act, I-T Act, Civil Procedure Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Penal Code and 15 other Acts that are often referred to by lawyers and the public.
“The free-to-use Android apps are without any kind of advertisements,” said Vikram Vijayaraghavan, a software engineer-turned-lawyer, who along with an engineer, developed the apps.
“We keep updating them. Already in the beta version, over two lakh users have downloaded the apps. In the I-T Act app, tribunal judgements from across the country are updated daily,” he said.
The apps were launched by Rajib Kumar Hota, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Chennai, at the valedictory of the 7th K.R. Ramamani Memorial Taxation Moot Court Competition organised at the School of Excellence in Law of The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University.
Value of ethics
In his address, Madras High Court Judge Nooty Ramamohana Rao stressed the need for youngsters to imbibe ethics in their respective professions right from the beginning.
Madras High Court Judge M.S. Ramesh spoke about the need to pass smart judgements on issues while commenting on social media forums and networks.
Former Additional Advocate General, Tamil Nadu, Aravindh Pandiyan, who was a junior to the late Ramamani, recalled how his senior had showered affection on all his juniors.
Former vice-president, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), N. Bharathvaja Sankar, Asha Vijayaraghavan, judicial member ITAT, and S. Narayana Perumal, Director in-charge, School of Excellence in Law, were among those who participated in the event.
