August 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:27 am IST - CHENNAI:

After two years of marriage, actor Amala Paul and director A.L. Vijay moved a family court here on Saturday, seeking divorce by mutual consent.

Amala and Vijay, who were present before Principal Family Court judge Maria Clinty, submitted affidavits in the presence of their counsel.

Hearing in February

Admitting the plea, the judge adjourned the case to February 11, 2017, for further hearing.

The actor, who debuted in the Tamil movie Veerasekaran in 2010, married Vijay on June 7, 2014.

The couple decided to seek divorce reportedly after a difference of opinion regarding Amala’s choice to continue acting after marriage.
