The Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials at the Chennai airport on Friday announced that they have earmarked a designated pick-up area at the domestic terminal .

An official communication from the Airport Director said the pick-up area has been created with an objective of decongesting the corridor and ensuring a hassle-free passenger flow in front of the terminal buildings. To achieve this, the AAI officials have chalked out a pattern that discouraged see-off and receiving passengers in the corridor, the release said.

The change was necessary as the space in front of the terminal building was limited and major portion had been taken up for expansion work.

Facilities such as flight information display and public address systems, seating arrangements have been provided in the pick up area. Four canopies have also been erected for the convenience of passengers and visitors.

However, those who wish to use facilities such as eateries, airlines ticketing counter, ATMs which are located in the corridor would be permitted without any visitor's entry ticket, the release said.
