About 50 cadres of the AIADMK, led by Rajya Sabha MP A. Navaneethakrishnan, on Monday besieged the Congress headquarters at Satyamurthy Bhavan here and tore the banners placed at the gate.

Congress spokesperson A. Gopanna said the AIADMK workers hurled stones at the gate before dispersing. “We will prefer a police complaint on the issue. There was no damage to the office inside,” he said. Police personnel rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

The attack was allegedly a reaction to unsavoury remarks that TNCC president E.V.K.S. Elangovan made against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa recently.

Effigies of Mr. Elangovan was also burnt in parts of the State.
