“You are charged with drunken driving by the police. Do you admit it?” a metropolitan magistrate asked actor Jai on Saturday. With his head bowed, the actor answered, “Yes, sir! I admit the guilt.”

Likewise, IV metropolitan magistrate L. Abraham Lincoln read out six charges to Mr. Jai in the Saidapet court.

The magistrate ordered him to pay a fine of ₹5,200, besides suspending his driving licence for six months.

Mr. Jai hit a median on the Adyar flyover on September 21 while returning from a party.

The police found that he was drunk.

As per procedure, he appeared before the metropolitan magistrate court and agreed to admit the guilt, besides volunteering to pay a fine.

However, on the next day, he failed to appear before the court. Irked over his absence, the magistrate issued a warrant against Mr. Jai.

Six charges

On Saturday, he was charged with rash driving, drunken driving, driving an uninsured vehicle, using a vehicle in an unsafe condition, usage of sun film on the vehicle and not having the specified size of number plate.

Mr. Jai paid up the fine.
