Claiming credit for the arrest of the ex-Minister Agri S.S. Krishnamoorthy, the Tamil Nadu unit of the Aam Aadmi Parry (AAP) on Sunday announced that it would continue its struggle till the case is transferred to the CBI.
If the family of Muthukumarasamy, who committed suicide, has to get justice, the case should be transferred to the CBI. The AAP said it sought time with the Tamil Nadu Governor in this regard.
First victory
In a statement, the AAP State committee said the arrest of the former Agricultural Minister was the first victory in the joint struggle launched by the party and the media. The democratic struggle had defeated the State government’s efforts to give the case a silent burial, it added.
Last month, the party laid siege to the Chief Minister’s house demanding a CBI probe into the suicide of Muthukumarasamy. Subsequently, its volunteers were jailed.
Unlike the probe in the Aavin corruption case, which hit a dead end, the AAP vowed to carry on the fight in this case. Had the police (CB-CID) arrested Mr. Krishnamoorthy 20 days ago, the AAP would have had faith in them.
However, the delayed arrest happened because the issue had hit the national headlines.
