AAP spurns Vaiko’s overtures

April 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:54 am IST - Chennai:

MDMK leader Vaiko’s attempt to garner support from Aam Aadmi Party has gone in vain after the New Delhi-based party wrote back to the former saying that they will not be able to support the PWF-DMDK alliance in the forthcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

In a letter signed by senior AAP leader Somnath Bharti, the party, while pointing out that it was keenly watching the latest development, said that it believed corruption to be the ‘biggest scourge’ in society. The letter said ‘it believes that the entire system needs to be changed in Tamil Nadu’, which made it impossible for the Aam Aadmi Party to extend support to any party or alliance in the State.
