For the next one week, travellers can book flights to Singapore at just Rs. 2,700, inclusive of taxes and other charges. This promotional one-way airfare is offered by Singapore-based airline Tiger Airways as part of their fifth anniversary celebrations. Passengers can avail of this offer from today to March 13 to fly to Singapore from select Indian cities including Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore, Kochi and Hyderabad; for Trichy, the price is Rs. 5,400.

For Chennai, these fares will be made available from March 7 to March 13, for travel between June 1 and December 15 2013.

“We see a great potential for investment in India. Right now, we have flights to Singapore only from the above mentioned six cities. But we are considering expanding our routes to Madurai and Coimbatore as well,” said Tiger Airways Singapore’s Commercial Director Kaneswaran Avili.

The nine-year old low cost airline, which started its operations in Chennai in 2007, has about eleven flights from Chennai to Singapore every week. The journey currently costs Rs. 7,000 - Rs.8,000.

Alka Jha, area sales manager, Tiger Airways, said Chennai is one of their most popular routes.
