A one-stop solution?

Most of the time, at the Chellammal Women’s College bus stop in Guindy, commuters will be in the minority. There are two shelters at this stop, where cab drivers, autorickshaw drivers, other motorists and pedestrians can often be seen taking an afternoon nap.

Even drivers of MTC route numbers stop here to have lunch. Besides this, many employees of companies located on Anna Salai take a siesta at the shelters, after having lunch at an eatery on 33ft Road.

Surrounded by avenue trees, this halting point is cool and breezy. “Whatever the temperature, one doesn’t feel the heat at this halting point,” says S. Sumathi, an IT professional.

Unlike most other bus stops across the city, this shelter is less crowded as route numbers plying through Anna Salai are frequent. The bus stop comes under the jurisdiction of Ward 170, Zone 13, of Greater Chennai Corporation.
