City residents, who were experiencing hot weather for the past few days, may have a respite. A shift in winds is expected to bring down the day temperature slightly for two days.

The meteorological department predicts the day temperature to be 35 degree Celsius, which is one degree Celsius higher than average, till Monday.

Friday turned out to be the hottest day so far this month with the mercury level soaring to 37.1 degree Celsius, nearly three degrees above normal.

In Meenambakkam too, the temperature peaked at 37.6 degree Celsius.

However, on Saturday, the temperature dipped to a normal of 34.2 degree Celsius in Nungambakkam and 35.4 degree Celsius in Meenambakkam. Officials said easterly and south-easterly winds that bring cool, moist air from the sea brought down the temperature on Saturday. The same weather pattern would continue till Monday.
