An eight-year-old girl died while playing with a dupatta hanging from a clothesline at her home in Madhuravoyal on Wednesday.

According to police, the victim was Angel Princiba, the daughter of John Peter, who runs a grocery shop and lives in MMDA Colony, Madhuravoyal with his wife Suganthy. The couple also have a three-year-old son, Christo.

On Wednesday, the couple left the house in the morning leaving the children alone. When Suganthy returned at 12.15 p.m., she found Angel entangled in a duppata left on a clothesline. The dupatta was around the child’s neck and she was unconscious. Suganthy rushed her to a nearby hospital. However, Angel died in the evening.

Her body was sent for a post-mortem examination to Government Kilpauk Hospital. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
