8 injured in accident

Eight persons, including four French nationals, sustained injuries in an accident on ECR on Friday.

According to police, the accident took place at 10-30 a.m. when a van in which the French nationals were travelling from Mamallapuram to Puducherry collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The van overturned when the driver, Neelamegam, applied brakes suddenly. Besides Neelamegam, Marchand Glad (75) and his wife Michale (70), Maman David Roger (78) and his wife, Chandan Roger (56) – and their guide Mustafa Ali (55) , sustained injuries. Rajendran (26) and Thiyagarajan (27), riding the motorcycle, were also injured.

All the injured were rushed to Chengalpattu Medical College Hospital, from where the French nationals were referred to a private hospital in Chennai.
