56 liver transplants conducted at Stanley: Minister

A total of 56 liver transplants have been performed at Government Stanley Hospital since last January, and the hospital has seen a 100 per cent success rate, said Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar.

Mr. Baskar was speaking at the World Organ Day celebrations held at the hospital on Wednesday. He highlighted cases of children from other States and countries coming to Tamil Nadu for transplant surgeries and said the State had the highest rate of donation in the country. Later in the day, he chaired a meeting with stakeholders for precautionary measures to be taken against communicable diseases at Government Multi Superspecialty Hospital.
