Three persons died and six others were injured in a road accident on GST Road, at Paakkam near Madurantakam, on Monday morning.
The accident took place around 5 a.m. when a car going towards Chennai on GST Road rammed a stationary goods carrier, at Pakkam.
In the impact, two occupants of the car, Raj (60) of Pudukottai and his wife, Kamalammal (55), died on the spot. Raj and his family members were going to Chennai to help his newly-wed son, Vinothkumar, a software engineer, set up their house.
Apart from the aged couple, their son and daughter-in-law and other relatives were also in the car.
Bhanumathi, a family member, succumbed to injuries in hospital later in the day.
