If you do not have a refrigerator, storing milk can be a problem. Recently, Aavin came up with a solution by introducing 250 ml milk packets at its parlours and depots.
The Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation, Aavin, has now extended the supply of such small packets across the city.
“Earlier, we only supplied the 250 ml packets to north Chennai, but since there was a positive response from customers, we thought we might as well supply to the rest of the city,” said a source in Aavin.
The Madhavaram, Sholinganallur and Ambattur diaries now have the facility to pack smaller quantities and as of now, 1,200 litres in 250 ml packs are being supplied daily across the city. The cost of a pack is Rs. 11.
Ambigaidas, a resident of Tiruvottiyur, said that the small packs were very handy on days his family was out of station.
Uma, a resident of Vyasarpadi, said the smaller packs are economical for small families. “With one pack, I make four cups of tea in the morning. One cup of tea outside costs Rs. 8, but if I make tea at home, I spend less,” she said.
