2.0 , the magnum opus of director Shankar, starring actor Rajinikanth, will release in April 2018, the makers of the film, Lyca Productions, have announced.

A statement from Raju Mahalingam, creative head of Lyca Productions, said the team involved with the post-production work is fully geared up for the release of the film.

The movie, touted to be one of the costliest made in the country, was initially slated for a Deepavali release this year. The date was then postponed to January 2018.

The movie boasts of extensive visual effects and in October, a short featurette was released by the team behind the film, detailing the 3D technology used. The film, which has been shot in 3D, is a sequel to Shankar’s Endhiran , which also starred Rajinikanth. Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar also star in the movie.
