The Kasimedu police have formed a special team to nab a gang of burglars who made away with more than 120 sovereigns of jewellery from the house of a boat owner at Kasimedu on Sunday.

Police said Bhaskar, a resident of Kasimaanagar, had gone with his family to Periyapalayam temple on Friday. In the morning, he received a message from his neighbour that his front door had been broken open. Immediately, he filed a complaint with the Kasimedu police who went and inspected the house.

Bhaskar said that more than 120 sovereigns of gold jewellery kept in the safe locker of the bureau was missing along with a few lakhs of rupees.
