The police registered cases against 200 people including DMK MLA, P. N. P. Inbasekaran, for staging a demonstration in Pennagaram on Monday. The protest was triggered by the death of a woman soon after delivery. Krishnammal, 28, who was admitted to the Pennagaram Government Hospital on Saturday night, gave birth to a baby girl. Later, she developed complications and died. According to the relatives, there was no doctor on call at the hospital on Sunday and the patient succumbed to bleeding. Following this, the relatives took to the street alleging negligence and Mr. Inbasekaran joined them. Officials led by Dharmapuri RDO, and local police held talks with the protesters.
