A 23-year-old youth was stabbed to death in a drunken brawl near BEML circle under HAL police station limits on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Khadir, a resident of Islampura, a labourer by profession. The accused, Farooq (23), was arrested later.

On Wednesday noon, Kahdir and Farooq, accompanied by two of their friends, consumed alcohol and were chatting on Nalurahalli main road. An argument ensued over a trivial issue which took an ugly turn when Farooq pulled out a knife and stabbed Khadir repeatedly killing him on the spot. Sensing trouble the others fled the scene, leaving Khadir in a pool of blood. Passers-by who noticed Khadir alerted the police who shifted the body to the hospital.

Based on the information, the police arrested Farooq and are looking out for the other two.
