Youth caught setting fire to bikes

Alert staff members of Alankar Threatre, at Kammavari Pete in Hosakote, chased and caught a 20-year-old youth, who allegedly poured petrol on eight motorcycles parked at the threatre premises, during the screening of the Telugu blockbuster Bahubali 2 on Saturday.

The youth, who was later identified, as Santosh Kumar was handed over to the police.

The staff doused the fire to prevent it spreading to other vehicles.

Eight bikes gutted

As many as eight bikes were partially gutted in the mishap. “The alert staff had not only helped us to catch the perpetrator but also helped to prevent the fire by dousing it to prevent it from spreading to other vehicles,” a senior police officer said.

Movie replaced

Santosh Kumar allegedly confessed to the police that he was frustrated as the threatre management had replaced the Kannada movie Chakravathy with Bahubali 2 and he decided to take revenge on the management.

The police have booked him under various sections of the IPC and remanded him in judicial custody. The management soon after the incident stepped up security to ensure no further untoward incident.
